<\/a>Necronomicon have been around since 1988, and Tremblay says that their new album,\u00a0Advent of the Human God<\/em>, draws on the early days with a new twist.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re pretty much continuing what we\u2019re doing since we started with [2010 album] The Return of the Witch<\/em>. It\u2019s not like we\u2019re trying new stuff,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s more like we\u2019re doing what we started with at the beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n Tremblay attributes much of the band\u2019s growth to changing recording technologies, as well as the band’s\u00a0relocation to a more populated part of Quebec.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have more resources. Back in the day, we were living in the mountains up north, and there\u2019s nothing there,\u201d he says with a laugh. \u201cWhen you want to work in the music industry, you need to get the fuck out of there.\u201d<\/p>\n Meeting a large array of musicians\u2014from classical to metal\u2014when the band settled in Montreal is what allowed Necronomicon to play the way they want to, says Tremblay. He admits that the dark sounds found in this new album are representative of part of his personality but says that he actually needs to \u201cfeel at peace\u201d to be able to compose this type of music.<\/p>\n \u201cSome people, when they compose, they do that to release some tension; they\u2019re really in a pissed-off mood or whatever,\u201d he says. \u201cThey\u2019re upset. Me, personally, it doesn\u2019t work like that. I need to be zen, actually.\u201d<\/p>\n Tremblay says that the happier he felt, the easier the creativity of the new album came to him.<\/p>\n \u201cThe album, even if it sounds really dark\u2026 well, people are saying it\u2019s dark, I don\u2019t see it as dark,\u201d he says. \u201cI see it as really powerful. So if we go with the personal aspect, I can say that I\u2019m happier in my life than I was before.\u201d<\/p>\n
