The Camosun College Student Society (CCSS) is bringing their annual start-of-semester celebration for Camosun College students to both campuses in September, and they\u2019re promising a whole lot of fun this year. The events, happening September 6 at Lansdowne and September 8 at Interurban, are going to be carnival-esque good time, says CCSS student services coordinator Michael Glover.<\/p>\n

\u201cCamfest is like a big welcome-back party, really,\u201d says Glover. \u201cYou know, free food, entertainment of various kinds, tents, a lot of information on the college, all that kind of stuff. It\u2019s information, free food, and fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glover says Camfest is \u201cvery much like a transitory corridor,\u201d particularly at Lansdowne.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very mobile,\u201d he says. \u201cPeople aren\u2019t going to stand and deliver performances, just because people won\u2019t be there for it. The whole thing is grab and go.\u201d<\/p>\n

CCSS Interurban campus executive Sarah Lindsay stresses the importance of students taking advantage of all that CamFest has to offer by going up to the tents and seeing what is on display.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re nice people, I promise,\u201d she says. \u201cIf you see a tent, it probably has free stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lindsay says that even if you\u2019re a student who takes classes off campus, you can still attend CamFest.<\/p>\n

\u201cTake advantage of what we have to offer, and all the fun,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

CCSS external executive Rachael Grant says that CamFest is a great opportunity for students to get to know what resources are available to them at Camosun; it\u2019s also a good way to connect with students and the CCSS, she says, adding that the CCSS will be launching a new app for students at the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be an app that any Camosun student can download,\u201d she says, \u201cand it\u2019s going to be a really great way that students can connect with each other. We\u2019re really excited about launching that in the fall. It looks like it\u2019s going to be a great day for each campus.\u201d<\/p>\n
