New student reps elected to CCSS board<\/b><\/p>\n

The Camosun College Student Society (CCSS) held their student-board by-elections on October 25 and 26. 16 students were voted into their positions; look for a complete story in the Nov. 16 issue of Nexus<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Student society gives the gift of giving<\/b><\/p>\n

Every year, the CCSS puts together a limited number of Christmas hampers for those in need; the hampers contain food and other goodies. If you are in need of a hamper, email the student society\u2019s Gord Rant at rantg@camosun.ca to be added to the list. The hampers will be handed out at both Lansdowne and Interurban campuses after December 1.<\/p>\n

Trades building funding almost complete<\/strong><\/p>\n

Camosun College has been trying to raise $5 million to complete their trades-building renovations at Interurban, while also purchasing equipment for student use. The college recently said they need $200,000 more to meet their goal, which just happens to be approximately the amount they spent in the past year on an ex-president they fired but won\u2019t give a reason to the public for (search \u201cKathryn Laurin\u201d on nexusnewspaper.com for more information). C\u2019mon: are we not<\/i> going to make a joke about that? Totally going to make a joke about that.<\/p>\n

Chargers men\u2019s volleyball gets it done\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

The Camosun Chargers men\u2019s volleyball team kicked off their season on October 13 with a pair of wins. Head coach Charles Parkinson, who commentated on Olympic volleyball from Toronto this summer, said in a press release that the play was \u201ca bit ragged at times\u201d but that he\u2019s happy with how well-rounded the team is looking so far. The Chargers men\u2019s volleyball team\u2019s next home games are November 4 and 5 at 8 pm at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence at Interurban.<\/p>\n
