The Camosun College Chargers women\u2019s volleyball team has returned to the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association national rankings for the first time since 2003, placing 13th overall in Canada. Head coach Chris Dahl said in a recent press release that he hopes it provides a better picture of how the team is performing overall. \u201cBeing in the national rankings says two things,\u201d he said in the press release. \u201cFirst, it\u2019s a coach\u2019s poll and we are recognized by our peers. Second, it says a lot about the caliber of play in the PacWest.\u201d<\/p>\n Camosun student awarded<\/strong><\/p>\n Camosun College Chargers men\u2019s volleyball team captain Garret Marcellus was recently named the PacWest Men\u2019s volleyball athlete of the week for the week following the Chargers\u2019 men\u2019s two wins over the Capilano University Blues on October 28\u201329.<\/p>\n Victorian returning to Olympics<\/strong><\/p>\n Along with Paula Findlay of Edmonton, local athlete Simon Whitfield will represent Canada in triathlon at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England. Whitfield, 36, won the gold medal in men\u2019s triathlon at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia\u2014the first time the event was contested at the Olympics\u2014and then won silver in Beijing, China in 2008.<\/p>\n Royals\u2019 forward makes Team WHL<\/strong><\/p>\n Victoria Royals forward and leading scorer Kevin Sundher has been named to Team WHL, and will be facing Team Russia in the 2011 CHL Subway Super Series.
