The focus of the exhibit will be on the gallery\u2019s first director, Colin Graham, whose views of how art should be viewed shaped the gallery in its early years. The exhibit will be on until September 4; additional info can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/aggv.ca\" target=\"_blank\">aggv.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, March 1<br \/>\n<i>The land of milk and&#8230;<br \/>\n<\/i>The third talk in the series \u201cSketches of Israel and the Middle East\u201d will be held at Congregation Emanu-El Synagogue on March 1. This talk will explore the topic of environmental issues in Israel and the Palestinian territories, as well as explain why these countries are called \u201cthe land of milk and honey.\u201d Entry is by donation and light refreshments will be served. Contact heshi@me.com for details.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday, March 2<br \/>\n<i>Get schooled on\u00a0provincial elections<br \/>\n<\/i>Elections BC manager of communications Andrew Watson will be speaking and answering questions about the upcoming provincial election, right here at Camosun\u2019s Lansdowne campus. The event runs from 3 pm to 4:20 pm in Young 216; admission is free. Search \u201cDiscussion: 2017 Provincial Election\u201d on Facebook for more information.<\/p>\n<p>Friday, March 3<br \/>\n<em>Getting schooled with skills<\/em><br \/>\nCamosun College will hold the annual South Island skills competition from 9 am to 3 pm at the Interurban campus on March 3. Over 1,000 middle and high-school students will hit the college for this competition, which is focused on trades and technology and features contests such as spaghetti-bridge building and the sumo robot contest; see <a href=\"http:\/\/camosun.ca\" target=\"_blank\">camosun.ca<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday, March 4<br \/>\n<i>Make your voice heard<br \/>\n<\/i>If the prospect of helping shape arts and culture in Victoria interests you, there will be a public event held at the Victoria Cultural Cafe at Victoria City Hall from 11 am to 2 pm on March 4. The event is a chance for the community to contribute ideas on how the city can help improve Victoria\u2019s arts and culture sector.<\/p>\n<p>Monday, March 6\u00a0to Friday, March 11<br \/>\n<i>Spreading ideas<br \/>\n<\/i>UVic is hosting Ideafest from March 6 until March 11. Join other thinkers for a weeklong meditation on innovation, to be conducted through workshops, lectures, performances, panel discussions, and more. Well, that guy is Canadian entertainment veteran Paul Shaw. He also managed the Pan Am Torch Relay in 2015 and Vancouver\u2019s Expo 86. He will be talking about his career at 12:30 pm at UVic\u2019s Phoenix Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, March 8<br \/>\n<i>Neutralizing your stress<br \/>\n<\/i>Have you ever been so high-strung that you can\u2019t think of ways to lose some of your stress? If so, don\u2019t worry\u2014the Camosun College Student Society is holding their DeStress Festival at the Interurban campus\u2019 main causeway on March 8, from 11 am to 1 pm. The fest aims to help students to become more aware of their own mental health while exploring different ways to reduce stress. Included in the event are panel speakers and discussions about unity, diversity, and history. Attendees pick from select job titles associated with the theatre and \u201csign out\u201d a person to hear a history lecture about the theatre and that person\u2019s job there.
