{"id":13893,"date":"2017-04-07T13:45:43","date_gmt":"2017-04-07T20:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/?p=13893"},"modified":"2017-04-10T14:38:29","modified_gmt":"2017-04-10T21:38:29","slug":"camosun-college-student-society-april-student-election-results-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/2017\/04\/07\/camosun-college-student-society-april-student-election-results-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Camosun College Student Society April student election results in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Camosun College Student Society (CCSS) had three times the amount of students vote in their recent student election, which took place from April 3 to 5, compared to their average turnout. 1,223 students voted out of 9,369 currently registered at Camosun, a voter turnout much larger than the CCSS average of approximately 400.<\/p>\n<p>The utilization of online voting for the first time ever for the CCSS (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/2017\/03\/15\/camosun-college-student-society-moves-to-electronic-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\">see our story here<\/a>) may have been the reason for the higher turnout.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CCSS-logo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-13653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CCSS-logo-300x291.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CCSS-logo-300x291.png 300w, https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CCSS-logo-180x174.png 180w, https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CCSS-logo.png 324w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rachael Grant has been re-elected as the CCSS external executive, Luke Mione got in as the CCSS Lansdowne executive, while Dana Campbell is the Interurban executive.<\/p>\n<p>Wyatt Matthews got elected as the CCSS finance executive, and Karen Kanoga is now the CCSS international director. Solomon Lindsay, who was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/2017\/03\/15\/camosun-student-takes-action-in-current-city-issues\/\" target=\"_blank\">recently interviewed by Nexus<\/a> for his extra-curricular community activities, is the new CCSS sustainability director.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Smithson is now the CCSS pride director and Srijani Nath is the CCSS women\u2019s director. Melanie Winter was elected the CCSS students with disabilities director; Winter is also now the Interurban student representative on Camosun College&#8217;s board of governors.<\/p>\n<p>The election ballots\u00a0also had a referendum question, which passed.
