Pennsylvania death metal band Incantation\u2019s tenth studio album, Profane Nexus<\/em> (which we just couldn\u2019t pass up reviewing here at Nexus<\/em>; I mean, come on), deserves space in your record collection. Throw some vinyl out if you have to make space for it: this album is clear and concise yet abstract; the band\u2019s riffs have, if anything, grown sharper over the years.<\/p>\n

The poetic lyrics find a home between the vibrating bass and slower tempo in \u201cVisceral Hexahedron,\u201d and \u201cStormgate Convulsions from the Thunderous Shores of Infernal Realms Beyond the Grace of God\u201d will keep listeners on the edge of their seats in anticipation of what massive riff is going to come next. The sheer focus, speed, and immaculacy in \u201cThe Horns of Gefrin\u201d are manic, self-destructive pleasures.<\/p>\n

The electric riffs in closer \u201cAncients Arise\u201d are as satisfying as barbed wire tearing your worst enemy\u2019s back; the climactic beat brings the torturous track home.<\/p>\n
