Rateliff and company bring a full sound reminiscent of the<i> <\/i>Stax records of old, and it definitely belongs in the storied label\u2019s catalogue. The band brings the funk right out of the gate with the driving instrumental work on opener \u201cShoe Boot,\u201d and they don\u2019t look back from there. The power and growl of Rateliff\u2019s voice complements the polished \u201960s horn sound on cuts like \u201cHey Mama.\u201d \u201cStill Out There Running\u201d shows that Rateliff hasn\u2019t forgotten where he came from, and that he hasn\u2019t abandoned his folk roots.<\/p>\n<p>Rateliff makes no effort to replicate the surprise hit, \u201cS.O.B.\u201d, that made the band\u2019s 2015 self-titled album go platinum in Canada.
