My fears of live albums being duds were quickly categorized as irrational halfway through \u201cJumpin\u2019 Jack Flash,\u201d the first song on The Rolling Stones\u2019 new archival live album From The Vault: No Security. San Jose \u201999<\/i>. This is a song that has always made the hairs on my neck stand on end, and this recording of it is no exception.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI Got the Blues\u201d is an epic ballad, proving that the Stones are the last living fathers of blues and rock. The rarely-performed-live \u201cSaint of Me\u201d and \u201cSome Girls\u201d are high points of the album. The epic 12-minute version of \u201cMidnight Rambler\u201d is out of this world, and \u201cOut of Control\u201d is dark and eerie, balanced out with more straight-ahead rockers like \u201cStart Me Up.\u201d \u201cBrown Sugar\u201d is a little messy this time around but still manages to keep its crowd-roaring, legendary riffs and controversial subject matter in the limelight.<\/p>\n
