Craigdarroch Castle is launching Classics at Craigdarroch Movie Series on Thursday and Saturday nights at 6 pm throughout October. The movie list includes <i>Dracula<\/i>,<i> Frankenstein<\/i>,<i> House on Haunted Hill<\/i>, and more. There will be a cash bar on Saturday nights. Tickets are $11 per show ($10 for annual pass holders), and they can be purchased in person, by phone, or online. Written, staged, and designed by William Head inmates, the show takes the audience into a world under the roots of a giant tree, where a supernatural cabaret entertains banished souls until they are freed. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased prior to the show. See our full story next issue.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday, October 11\u00a0to Monday, October 22<br \/>\n<i>Antimatter matters<br \/>\n<\/i>Various locations in Victoria are hosting <i>Antimatter<\/i>, an arts festival with an emphasis on \u201cexperimentation in film, video, audio, and emerging time-based forms.\u201d Antimatter will include live performances, public installations, and screen works featured throughout downtown. No fee admission for installations; screenings and performances are by donation (suggested donation is $5 to $8). This fictitious troupe of male strippers is set to hit the McPherson Playhouse stage at 8 pm and will use audience suggestions (and a lack of clothing) to fumble, sing, and dance their way from sketch to sketch. No full monty, but you\u2019ve still gotta be 19 to get in. The lecture, \u201cVerses Strung like Pearls,\u201d will feature University of Victoria professor Shamma Boyarin, who will discuss the Hebrew poets of al-Andalus (Islamic Spain). The goal of the event is to demonstrate how fire pits are used by the First Nations of this region to cook camas bulbs (the blue flowers found on Lansdowne campus).
