Vancouver\u2019s The Sylvia Platters and Stephen Carl O\u2019Shea (from You Say Party) are both on the new split 12\u201d LP, Shadow Steps<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Side A starts with The Sylvia Platters\u2019 \u201cMorning Ritual,\u201d a short indie song influenced by \u201990s rock but with a late-\u201970s sound. It sets the tone for the tracks that follow. \u201cTV Light,\u201d with its relaxing feel, easy-to-listen-to vocal performance, and piercing instrumentation, is definitely a standout cut.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Shea\u2019s side takes another direction, with epic instrumentation and deep vocals. \u201cWorld of Tears\u201d takes this to heart and delivers a harmonious balance between the two. \u201cFear Is My Compassion\u201d gives a contrast between the instrumental and the vocals, which turns it into one of the most interesting tracks here.<\/p>\n
