Piercing pondering:<\/strong> Our January 24, 1994 issue featured writer Shelley Evans\u2019 thoughts on piercing, which was really taking off at the time. The Excrementia Factorum<\/em> column had Evans opining on clitoris piercing (\u201cThe only reason I can think of is the little bell locates you in the woods late at night when you\u2019re camping.\u201d) and nipple piercing (\u201cAren\u2019t you just ruining your chances at breastfeeding?\u201d). Evans even offered up some thoughts on penis piercing: \u201cThat must aid in finding \u2018true north.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accessibility, then and now:<\/strong> We ran a comic in our January 24, 1994 issue drawing attention to accessibility issues on campus; in the comic, a student in a wheelchair was yelling up to an instructor in a window asking if they could talk about their term paper. Last year, we debuted our Campus Access<\/em> column, looking at access issues at Camosun (the column ended last issue). The verdict: like with lots of things, the college has shown improvement, but there\u2019s still progress to be made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone\u2019s a winner:<\/strong> It wouldn\u2019t be a Canadian college paper in 1994 without some reference to groove-rockers Bootsauce back in the arts section. Here, the band was preparing to hit up legendary local venue Harpo\u2019s for two nights, and, inexplicably, we had not one but two interviews with the band in this issue. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
