You can make a difference: <\/strong>Our March 7, 1994 issue featured the story \u201cCamosun student instrumental in addressing access issues,\u201d which, you guessed it, profiled a Camosun student, Susan Anderson, who helped get some changes taken care of at the college. Anderson, who was in a wheelchair, noticed the college wasn\u2019t opening some of its wheelchair-accessible bathrooms\u2014for example, in the Dawson Building and in the library\u2014at the same time as its other bathrooms. Because of her, the college started to open those bathrooms at 7:30 am. Issues of access remain to this day, so never forget that your voice can bring about change at Camosun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coffee rankings: <\/strong>We examined what we thought were the best coffee shops in Victoria in this issue. In the late-night category, the winner was Zanzibar, with Java coming in as a runner-up. For daytime drinks, we tipped our cups to Bogart\u2019s, with Tooks on Cook coming in second. And look at that wonderful list: all local, not a chain store in sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

90210 in 1994:<\/strong> We\u2019re really not sure if a particularly hard-hitting look at Camosun students who enjoyed prime-time dramas like Melrose Place <\/em>and Beverly Hills 90210<\/em> that was in this issue was serious or a bit of tongue-in-cheek humour. \u201cOne Camosun student goes to her brother\u2019s house to watch the shows,\u201d writer Sarah Glide pointed out in what was maybe just a very slow week in the arts. \u201cHe claims he only watches them because she is there, but becomes quite anxious if she may not show up. Her favourite character is Dylan (Luke Perry), the orphaned millionaire of Beverly Hills 90210<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
