Taking Nexus <\/em>to task:<\/strong> Our April 5, 1994 issue featured several letters to the editor, none of which had many good things to say about us. We were accused of \u201cirresponsible journalism,\u201d told we had a \u201cmisleading article\u201d in the previous issue, and were labelled \u201cconsistently conservative and predictable.\u201d Ouch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Get corporations off campus:<\/strong> Incoming Camosun College Student Society council chair Sarah Kemp said in this issue that she was opposed to the college cafeteria bringing in Taco Time and Pizza Hut products, as those companies were owned by Pepsi. \u201cPepsi has a track record of supporting countries like Burma that have records of atrocious human rights abuses like torture and shooting for demonstrating,\u201d she said in the issue. She was also opposed to those products being there as it basically amounted to advertising for Pepsi, and, as she said, \u201cEducational facilities are not a forum for advertising.\u201d Look around today, students: do the ads around campus bother you? Upset with what companies make their way on campus? Don\u2019t assume you can\u2019t do anything about it; never forget that you have the power to speak up and make a change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
