Imaging Fusang: Exploring Chinese and Indigenous Encounters <\/em>is on display at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria until September 15. <\/em>Francisco Camacho Herrera\u2019s film Parallel Narratives <\/em>examines the ideas of history and myth through the seventh-century Chinese legend of Fusang. Drawings and photos by Gwenessa Lam illustrate the relationships between archaeological artifacts of Indigenous or Asian origin. Join Orkestar Kriminal on July 17 at The Copper Owl; this 10-person band specializes in interpretations of slum-based \u201cworld music.\u201d They sing everything from Mexican tequila-smuggling songs to Russian prisoner laments; if it\u2019s criminal and it\u2019s catchy, they\u2019ll do it. A festival d\u2019art<\/em>
The 32nd annual TD Art Gallery Paint-In is going down on Moss Street on July 20 from 11 am to 4 pm. This event is a fundraiser for the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria (AGGV). Join a community of regional artists as they create and interact with visitors; there will be \u201cimagination stations\u201d with interactive activities, as well as food vendors, a family-friendly beer garden from 11 to 6, an Open House at the AGGV from 10 to 6, and music with performers Arlene & Oscar, Steph MacPherson, Corduroy, Pastel Blank, and Bridal Party. For the sake of basic rights<\/em>
D\u2019Lishious Entertainment presents #SORRYNOTSORRY <\/em>at the Metro Studio Theatre at 7:30 pm on July 20. This isa fundraiser in support of Planned Parenthood, which provides reproductive health services, and NARAL Pro-Choice America, which works with state affiliates to promote progressive policies and educates lawmakers and citizens about the effects of anti-choice policies. This will be a night of comedy, burlesque, aerial performance, spoken word, and more in the name of human rights. Advance tickets are $15, and the show starts at 7:30 pm. Dear Sophie <\/em>is Simkin\u2019s memoir about being accepted into medical school and facing sexual harassment and discrimination while training. Slowshine showtime<\/em>
Australian artist Golden Vessel is coming to Lucky Bar on August 2 as part of his debut North American headline tour.
