This free exhibit is open to the public, and if\u00a0you love beautiful art and vivid culture\u2014and synagogues, sketches of synagogues, and\u2026 you get the point\u2014this is a great\u00a0way to experience it all.\u00a0The viewing runs Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm at the\u00a0Congregation\u00a0Emanu-El Synagogue, located at 1461\u00a0Blanshard\u00a0Street. See <a href=\"http:\/\/congregationemanuel.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">congregationemanuel.ca<\/a> for more info.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday, September 14<br \/>\n<i>Howlin\u2019 at the moon<br \/>\n<\/i>Are you into beautiful lantern installations under a night sky? Look no further, because Victoria\u2019s Moon Lantern Celebration is here. The whole thing looks pretty great\u2014whether you have kids, or are a kid yourself, you\u2019ll enjoy making your own lantern for $4 (the only fee of the night). At 5:30 pm, there will be musical performances; at 7:35 pm, there will be a procession of lantern viewing. The evening concludes at 8 pm with an illuminated finale performance. And yes, mooncakes are on the menu. It all goes down at Gordon Head Recreation Centre and\u00a0Lambrick\u00a0Park. These folks celebrate life\u2019s wonderful weirdness with their truly magnetic selves and really good music\u2014kind of a mix of Tegan and Sara, White Stripes, and Ozzy Osbourne. It\u2019s loud yet lyrical, it\u2019s feminist and LGBTQ-supportive, and it\u2019s wonderfully weird. Doors are at 8:30 pm, and tickets are $10 in advance or $13 at the door; see <a href=\"http:\/\/rubberbootclub.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rubberbootclub.com<\/a> for more info on this and other events.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday, September 19<br \/>\n<i>Korea at Camosun<br \/>\n<\/i>Camosun International and Camosun\u2019s school of Arts and Science are bringing the annual Camosun Korean Festival back to Lansdowne on September 19. The festival, which runs from 11:30 am to 2 pm in Na\u2019tsa\u2019maht, will feature games, food, and a chance to dress in traditional Korean clothing. Free; see <a href=\"http:\/\/camosun.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">camosun.ca<\/a> for more info.<\/p>\n<p>Friday, September 20<br \/>\n<i>Getting\u00a0indie with it<br \/>\n<\/i>Nothing lights the spirit like an evening with indie group West My Friend. Part chamber folk, part Cascadia, the band\u2019s music is pretty and heartwarming, yet meaningful as well. This is an album-release gig, complete with a 53-piece orchestra. Good swag and good cheer should be abundant.\u00a0The performance is in the\u00a0Alix\u00a0Goolden\u00a0Performance Hall; doors open at 7 pm, and tickets are $25. The three comedians\u00a0are funny, and they\u2019re also really good people, as they are\u00a0supporting\u00a0The Greater\u00a0Victoria Animal Crusaders\u00a0with this show.\u00a0What better way is there to bring people\u00a0together than with\u00a0laughter and a love of fuzzy beasts?\u00a0The comedians\u2014Scott Porteous, Shawn\u00a0Gramiak, and Frank Russo\u2014are\u00a0funny enough to\u00a0risk\u00a0the possibility\u00a0of\u00a0a glass-throwing bar fight (this is at The Duke, after all).\u00a0Just kidding: just bring your your sense of humour and your love of animals and it will be a sidesplitting and heartwarming evening. The show starts at 7 pm, and tickets are $15.
