For half a century he\u2019s been the poster boy for punk rock, and he\u2019s still going: on September 6, Pop released his 18th solo album,<i> Free.<\/i> Naturally, expectations<i> <\/i>are high for the follow-up to the Grammy-nominated <i>Post Pop Depression<\/i>. Unfortunately, however, <i>Free<\/i> is only half great.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been 50 years since <i>The Stooges <\/i>hit store shelves, so it\u2019s unfair to expect Pop to reproduce the raw power of early hits like \u201cI Wanna Be Your Dog.\u201d That said, <i>Free <\/i>has some good moments. Oddly, \u201cJames Bond\u201d is the only track getting any airtime, but don\u2019t let that dissuade you. \u201cLoves Missing\u201d showcases Pop\u2019s carefully aged baritone voice, and his thoughts on the state of porn in \u201cDirty Sanchez\u201d will either make you laugh out loud or be deeply offended.<\/p>\n<p>However, the album is lyrically lazy, and as a whole <i>Free<\/i> lacks flow.
