Camosun crawling with private dicks:<\/b> In \u201cInvestigation of student raises questions of confidentiality\u201d in our October 17, 1994 issue, we reported that some Camosun instructors were concerned about a private investigator walking around campus asking for information about a Camosun student. The investigator was working on behalf of ICBC for a firm owned by\u2014wait for it\u2014then-chairperson of Camosun College board of governors Donald Amos, prompting worries of conflict of interest. As if this all weren\u2019t outrageous enough, Amos added in the story that \u201cWe have investigators on campuses at least 25 times a year.\u201d Sorry\u2026 what?<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll never stop with this one:<\/b> \u201cAccess Committee achieves elevator coupe\u201d is an excellent headline for an excellent story, one that details how the Paul building, located at the Lansdowne campus, was getting an elevator installed in it to solve the problem of its second floor being inaccessible. Good thing the college learned from history and stopped making inaccessible buildings. Oh, wait\u2026 (see \u201cAccessible for all?\u201d over at nexusnewspaper.com).<\/p>\n

Now that\u2019s how to start a story:<\/b> The story \u201cCoffeehouse spawns Haunted Fishbowl\u201d looked back on opening night of a coffeehouse here on campus where local talent played music, read poetry, and more. Apparently, the turnout was bleak, however, prompting writer Sherri Bouchard to open the piece with \u201cThe student body at Camosun College, particularly Lansdowne campus, is pathetic!\u201d Ouch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
