Wilna Thomas closed for renovations<\/b><\/p>\n

New Interurban cafe opens<\/b><\/p>\n

reCharge, the new cafe on the first floor of the Alex and Jo Campbell Centre for Health and Wellness building at Interurban, held its soft launch on Monday, January 6, with a partial menu. The cafe offers soups, salads, sandwiches, drinks, baked goods, coffee, and tea. reCharge\u2019s January-to-April hours are 8 am to 11 am Monday to Friday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Driver collides with lamppost at Interurban\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Police responded to a call just after 8 am on Friday, January 10 at the Interurban campus when a driver ran their vehicle into a pole on the road behind the Centre for Business and Access. The road was closed until a tow truck arrived. There were no injuries, but the vehicle\u2019s airbags were deployed. Police don\u2019t believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women in Trades-related companies awarded<\/b><\/p>\n

The 2019 Builders Code Champion Awards were held on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the Ocean Pointe Resort. The awards recognize companies that show policies, practices, and standards that allow employees to reach their full potential. Nine companies were awarded this year, two of which have ties to Camosun College. Victoria-based Durwest Construction Management won the Initiate of the Year award; Durwest has worked with Camosun\u2019s Women in Trades program to get more women involved in the trades. Victoria-based Kinetic Construction was one of two companies that won the Workplace Culture Champion award, in part for providing education in Camosun\u2019s Women in Trades program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Victoria grants assist community projects<\/b><\/p>\n

29 community projects and activities in Greater Victoria will receive $52,945 in funding from the City of Victoria\u2019s fall 2019 My Great Neighbourhood Grants. The grants aim to create a more vibrant and tight-knit community through community projects, such as small free library huts, community emergency kits, and workshops on climate action and housing.
