In an email sent out at 8:15 pm on Saturday, March 14, Camosun College announced it will be switching to alternative delivery for its classes for the rest of this semester due to the COVID-19 situation.<\/p>\n

In the email, Camosun president Sherri Bell says that this is being done to assist with social distancing on campuses while still ensuring students get their education.<\/p>\n

Camosun College is transitioning to alternative delivery for its classes for the rest of the semester due to the COVID-19 situation (file photo).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

What \u201calternative delivery\u201d means will vary from class to class and depends on the instructor. The college has given instructors until Friday, March 20 to determine how they will implement alternative delivery, with options such as email, D2L, video streaming, and web conferencing being mentioned in the email, which is also available online.<\/p>\n

This will also require instructors reassess the weighting of assignments or exams accordingly.<\/p>\n

The alternative delivery will be in effect until April 24, the end of the winter exam period (the date is subject to review).<\/p>\n

Instructors will be in contact with students regarding the transition, and will be available on campus on Monday.<\/p>\n

Student services will continue to be open on campus. Nexus<\/i> will continue to publish print issues and post updates at nexusnewspaper.com.<\/p>\n
