Learning from home for 25 years:<\/strong> The story \u201cSchool on the air\u201d in our September 3, 1996 issue threw me for a loop when I started reading it: \u201cThe idea of taking classes from the comfort of your own home has taken shape at Camosun College.\u201d Given the events of the past year and a half, you could see my confusion. This story, however, was about the college’s radio station at the time, CKMO, offering credit courses over the air.<\/p>\n

Well, it’s helpful, I suppose:<\/strong> That same story, when mentioning the Young Building, adds that it is \u201cthe one with the big clock on the roof,\u201d which is sort of odd language for a newspaper, but, hey, whatever helps new students find their way around campus.<\/p>\n

Landline not included:<\/strong> An ad from Shaw Cable promises a \u201cCable TV student discount\u201d in this issue, with channels such as MuchMusic being part of the package. On the \u201cnostalgia for archaic technologies\u201d scale, this ranks right below seeing an ad for a phone book or a PSA reminding you that you can call the telephone operator to ask them the time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
