New direction then, new direction now:<\/b> Our October 28, 1996 issue featured the story \u201cCollege gets set to change direction,\u201d which detailed how Camosun was developing a new mission statement in a strategy \u201cintended to bring the college into the information age.\u201d It’s fitting reading this today, as the college goes through more changes (see our recent interview with outgoing Camosun president Sherri Bell)<\/p>\n

Park off:<\/b> Hmm, it’s been a while since we complained about on-campus parking here, so: our Speak <\/i>Up<\/i> in this issue asked students what improvements\/facilities they’d like to see on campus, and Lansdowne student Alvin Wong said \u201cI think we need more parking and it should be cheaper parking.\u201d Let’s just hope Wong hasn’t tried to get a spot at Interurban recently.<\/p>\n

Composting history:<\/b> We’ve hinted at this recently, but I’m just going to come right out and say it: environmental issues should be the next big thing the college focuses on. The students want it, and even a quarter-century back we were talking about it, with several columns in this issue looking at subjects like composting, \u201cgreening up\u201d the home, and the relationship between science and ecology.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
