After nine years of keeping fans waiting, Canadian singer\/songwriter Julie Doiron is back with another solo album. Her music is often referred to as indie rock, however, it\u2019s softer than that, with a rhythm and base that is reminiscent of folk or country. Themes of returning home or reaching out to old lovers also heavily add to the old country music vibe.<\/p>\n

Doiron’s emotional vocals make her sound like an old soul, yet the electric guitar and bass lines often make songs that could be very slow sound punk and fresh.
\nHowever, what starts out funky only gets slower as it progresses until, eventually, it’s almost bland. The themes that were interesting in the first songs become stale and the punk vibe drops out completely for the second half of the album.<\/p>\n

While there are a couple of bangers on I Thought of You<\/em>, I wouldn\u2019t recommend the whole album.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
