Have no fear, though, because October starts this movie season off with a bang with the Halloween franchise’s “final” hurrah, Halloween Ends. This is being called the final chapter in the franchise, which started in 1978, and will attempt to provide a satisfying end to Laurie Strode’s story arc and answer the number-one question on everyone’s minds: can Michael Myers stay dead for longer than five minutes? Is it truly possible? You can find the answers to these burning questions and more when you go see Halloween Ends this October.

Black Adam
Release date: October 21

Another movie I’m looking forward to seeing this fall is the long-awaited DC project Black Adam, based on one of the comic world’s most well-known anti-heroes, here played by Dwayne Johnson. This film will follow Black Adam’s origin story and how he became one of DC’s most powerful characters. The movie has been one of DC’s long-in-development projects and I’m really thrilled to see what Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have up their sleeves for the anti-hero.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Release date: November 11

I am so excited for this one. I mean, the last Black Panther movie went on to become the first superhero movie to land a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards, something not even a movie as popular as The Dark Knight could pull off. I especially can’t wait to see how this film addresses its lead star Chadwick Boseman’s death. Marvel has publicly denounced the possibility that they will recast him, so there’s a lot of confusion regarding how to make a Black Panther movie without Black Panther. The trailer also makes this movie look and sound awesome. I can’t wait to find out how all these questions will be addressed this November.

The Fabelmans
Release date: November 11

This film—directed by one of our finest filmmakers, Steven Spielberg—is a semi-autobiographic take on Spielberg’s early life growing up in the Cold War era. This sounds like a movie that is going to be up my alley. I love autobiographical movies and this looks like one that will be very entertaining—I just can’t wait to see the finished product.

Avatar: The Way of Water
Release date: December 16

It’s here, folks—the long-awaited sequel to 2009’s revolutionary masterpiece Avatar is finally here. I can’t wait to find out what James Cameron does with this sequel. The trailer looks amazing and makes this movie look just as good as the first. My only expectation is that there is better work done on the script than on the first one. The last movie was just full of cliches from other movies, which, quite frankly, took me out of the film, so a more original story this time around would be very much appreciated.

Babylon
Release date: December 25

Out of everything I’ve gone over here, I’m most interested in this movie. It has everything I could like in a movie, and much more. Not a lot is known about Babylon but I can tell you that it’s set in the golden age of Hollywood during the transition from silent films to what was then known as the “talkies.” It also has a killer cast with the likes of Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Tobey Maguire. I can’t wait to see this up on the big screen.

I hope you all have a great fall semester, and I’ll see you at the movies.

Well, we made it past summer movie season, and now it’s time to talk about the fall blockbusters.
