Guitarist\/vocalist Karl Nordahl describes their style as \u201cbusiness class indie rock\u201d but I didn\u2019t get that impression while listening. Instead, I\u2019d say it\u2019s more like garage-band indie rock.<\/p>\n<p>In every song the bass playing is fantastic and there\u2019s some powerful guitar riffs, but the vocals are quite plain, unfortunately. There isn\u2019t much range and it sounds like the lead singer had no previous experience, and certainly no training. Other than this, the songs are performed decently and quite well written.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the song titles are confusing: it\u2019s clear that the title of the third track, \u201cJonestown,\u201d is a reference to the 1978 massacre in Guyana by religious extremist Jim Jones, who was responsible for the death of 918 people. Yet after listening, it\u2019s not clear as to why it was referenced at all.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m on the fence here: I mostly enjoyed this EP, but don\u2019t see myself recommending it to other rock fans.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bring the Hoax Bring the Hoax (L\u00f6vely Records) 3\/5\u00a0 Swedish alt-rock band Bring the Hoax\u2019s debut EP leaves me with mixed feelings.
