Cute album title, no? Luckily, Steve Poltz, who has been plying his singer-songwriter trade for a while, makes up for it on this, his thirteenth disc. Here, it\u2019s all classic rock stomps, like opener \u201cSpirit Hands,\u201d which reminds you of nothing more than just how damn good Led Zeppelin III<\/em> really was. \u201cCroatia\u201d melds indie-beard credibility with a mainstream CanRock swagger; much of the album holds tight and steady right there, like a Black Crowes with a slight above-the-49th<\/sup> quirkiness. But simpler is better: check out \u201cSlovania Breeze\u201d or \u201cCheck Your Head\u201d, both of which sound like lost Stones jams from their heyday. I love the ragged production, the rough and tumble jam-room feel, the classic rock vibe. I\u2019m not sure about wildly clich\u00e9 lines like \u201cI was lost but now I\u2019m found again,\u201d but, you know, you can\u2019t win \u2019em all. On this disc, Poltz wins \u2019em most, and that\u2019s saying a lot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
