Jay-Z\u2019s 12th<\/sup> solo album may come as a disappointment to any fans that are looking for depth and meaning.<\/p>\n

The lyrics are consistently laced with corporate references, he compares his music to the Bible, and in the track \u201cHeaven\u201d he calls himself a \u201cprophet.\u201d The constant self-praise and self-references to Da Vinci and other famous artists get a bit old.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the good news: the beats, production, and Jay-Z\u2019s legendary lyrical flow almost make you forget about the lack of lyrical depth.<\/p>\n

\u201cPart II (On the Run),\u201d featuring Beyonc\u017d, is a perfect follow-up to \u201c\u201903 Bonnie and Clyde.\u201d \u201cCrown,\u201d which is produced by 16-year-old Canadian WondaGurl, has a gritty, New York feel to it, reminiscent of some of Jay-Z\u2019s older material.<\/p>\n

While the lyrics feel like they could use a bit more work, the rest of the album is so well put together that it\u2019s definitely worth a listen.<\/p>\n
