But never fear; just follow these six simple steps before you go approaching any future employers.<\/p>\n<p><b>Do a general Google search<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Start with a general search term that includes your industry and the location you want to work in (i.e. \u201cmarketing agency Victoria, BC\u201d). You can also add \u201cyellowpages\u201d to your search for contact info. Compile a list of all the companies and save the websites for researching the companies later.<\/p>\n<p><b>Do a specific Google search<\/b><\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in working in a specific industry, do a second search. For example, add \u201csports\u201d or \u201ctheatre\u201d to a \u201cmarketing\u201d search.<\/p>\n<p><b>Research the companies<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Read thoroughly through the company websites and any online reviews to find the company\u2019s core values, accomplishments, and customer feedback.<\/p>\n<p><b>Rate the company<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Make a list of all the things you want from your position. What skills do you want to build for your dream career? Do you want room for advancement within the company? Prioritize these things and then rate all of the companies you\u2019re considering.<\/p>\n<p><b>Research each company\u2019s team<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Read the company bios and their LinkedIn profiles. Do you have anything in common?
