Felicita is a person, after all!:<\/b> Our March 7, 1994 issue featured plenty of hard-hitting stories but the thing that stands out the most is this little nugget of information, found in a story called \u201cUVic Sub centre of hub\u201d: Felicita\u2019s pub, UVic\u2019s long-running pub hangout, was \u201cnamed after an adored member of the janitorial staff.\u201d So, now you know!<\/p>\n

Low-culture high-culture: <\/b>Our review of a gig by local art-rockers Dixie\u2019s Death Pool featured this humorous summation of the band\u2019s sound from writer Kim MacNaughton: \u201cFor those whose ears are trained to structural melodies, listening to the Dixie\u2019s Death Pool show would have been somewhat of a crash course in hillbilly subcultural sound.\u201d<\/p>\n

End of an era: <\/b>Since this issue came out 20 years back, the day of the pay phone has come to an end\u00c9 almost. You still see one or two around town now and again (we still have some on campus), but, obviously, they\u2019re just not as needed these days. In this issue, the story \u201cFree phones on campus\u201d talked about free public telephones potentially coming to both campuses. There was concern, however, as writer Jennifer Siegg put it, that people would talk on the phones for \u201chours on end.\u201d <\/b>Talking for hours on a phone with a cord attached to it?
