Well, you host a cabaret show, of course.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nexusnewspaper.com\/2013\/12\/13\/kitt-jane-win-fringe-lottery-plan-canadian-tour-this-summer\/\" target=\"_blank\">As we reported in December<\/a>, the Victoria production of <i>Kitt &amp; Jane<\/i> was chosen in the Canadian Fringe Festival lottery and organizers plan to tour the show in select Canadian cities this summer. The show tells the story of two 14-year-old kids training the audience to survive the apocalypse.<b><\/b><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8867\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8867\" style=\"width: 377px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/KITT-AND-JANE-CROPPED.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8867 \" alt=\"Kitt and Jane return in the cabaret-style Spirit Week (photo provided). \" src=\"https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/KITT-AND-JANE-CROPPED.jpg\" width=\"377\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/KITT-AND-JANE-CROPPED.jpg 628w, https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/KITT-AND-JANE-CROPPED-269x300.jpg 269w, https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/KITT-AND-JANE-CROPPED-300x334.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/KITT-AND-JANE-CROPPED-180x200.jpg 180w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 377px) 100vw, 377px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8867\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kitt and Jane return in the cabaret-style <i>Spirit Week<\/i> (photo provided).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In an effort to help raise funds, they\u2019ve come up with a new cabaret show called <i>Spirit Week<\/i> based on the characters from <i>Kitt &amp; Jane<\/i>, which is being billed as a \u201cmad-cap evening of competitive fun\u201d by the show\u2019s star and co-creator Ingrid Hansen.<\/p>\n<p>Again featuring the characters of Kitt Pedersen (Hansen) and Lucas \u201cJane\u201d Jameson (Rod Peter Jr.), the cabaret-style <i>Spirit Week<\/i> introduces another character who only made a brief cameo in <i>Kitt &amp; Jane<\/i>: \u201cself-appointed coolest substitute teacher in town, Chase Breyer,\u201d explains Hansen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a hilarious, try-hard substitute teacher, self-appointed as everybody&#8217;s new best friend,\u201d elaborates Hansen. \u201cHe appears as a voice-over shadow puppet character in <i>Kitt &amp; Jane<\/i>, and then at our Christmas Cabaret he was brought to life by local comedian Rich Gauthier. Gauthier will host the show and he&#8217;s absolutely fascinating to watch as Chase;\u00a0tragically awkward and hilarious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Due to its cabaret style, <i>Spirit Week<\/i> isn\u2019t a proper third installment of the Kitt Pedersen trilogy. (<i>Kitt &amp; Jane<\/i>\u2019s prequel, <i>Little Orange Man<\/i>, telling the story of Kitt\u2019s early years, was also a Fringe favourite.) But the <i>Spirit Week<\/i> fundraising show does beg the question of whether the Kitt plays will someday become a full-fledged trilogy?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have talked about what a third show would look like, but have not confirmed it at this time,\u201d says Hansen. \u201cWould it be two years in the future, or 50? Send us your ideas!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Hansen, Peter, and co-creator and director Kathleen Greenfield are preparing their main show for the Fringe tour, raising money along the way with shows like <i>Spirit Week<\/i>, a recent encore performance of <i>Little Orange Man<\/i>, and an upcoming presentation of <i>The Adventures of Superman<\/i> (April 18-19), all taking place at the Intrepid Theatre Club.<\/p>\n<p>And as for this summer\u2019s Fringe tour, Hansen says the trio is stoked on what lays ahead, although they\u2019ll be even more stoked once they have a van to tour in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re revved.\u00a0Raring to go,\u201d she says. &#8220;I&#8217;m really looking forward to reconnecting with our audiences and friends across the country\u2026 Fringe is the stomping grounds for innovation in live performance in Canada, and a very passionate community of weirdos.\u00a0I am proud to be one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><i>Kitt &amp; Jane<\/i> present <i>Spirit Week <\/i><br \/>\nApril <del>2-3<\/del> 3-4, 8 pm<br \/>\nIntrepid Theatre Club (1609 Blanshard St.), $15<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.snafudance.com\" target=\"_blank\">snafudance.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What do you do when are a popular stage duo and you need to raise money to buy a van for an upcoming Fringe tour?
