She was also selected as a second-team all-star in the PACWEST provincial collegiate sports league. It was Matthews\u2019 second consecutive President\u2019s Cup award.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Dellabough also earned a perfect 9.0 GPA in associate science while playing as a second-year rightside on the Chargers men\u2019s volleyball team. Dellabough\u2019s team finished with a bronze medal at this year\u2019s provincial finals.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9006\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9006\" style=\"width: 420px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/43074vicnewsSNLucasDellaboughcamosunPApr1614.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9006\" alt=\"43074vicnewsSNLucasDellaboughcamosunPApr1614\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/43074vicnewsSNLucasDellaboughcamosunPApr1614.jpg\" width=\"420\" height=\"296\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/43074vicnewsSNLucasDellaboughcamosunPApr1614.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/43074vicnewsSNLucasDellaboughcamosunPApr1614-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nexusnewspaper.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/43074vicnewsSNLucasDellaboughcamosunPApr1614-180x127.jpg 180w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9006\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Camosun men&#8217;s volleyball player Lucas Dellabough was named this year&#8217;s co-winner of the prestigious President&#8217;s Cup award (photo by Kevin Light).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;I am thrilled by the achievements of our Charger student-athletes,&#8221; said Camosun athletic director Graham Mathews, Camosun Chargers in a press release. &#8220;This is the second year in a row that Elyse has won this award, we couldn&#8217;t be more proud of her and Lucas&#8217; accomplishments as student-athlete leaders.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Other student-athletes awarded at the April 10 ceremony at Victoria\u2019s Harbour Towers hotel included Alex Sadowski, an Electrical Engineering student and men\u2019s volleyball middle who received the Linda Henderson Award for Excellence, and Vitor Macedo, a Brazilian import and men\u2019s volleyball setter who was named the recipient of the Derek Twomey Scholarship for Sport.<\/p>\n<p>As well, a total of 10 athletes, including Matthews, Dellabough, and Sadowski, earned PACWEST provincial academic excellence awards.<\/p>\n<p>The other PACWEST award recipients were women\u2019s basketball players Brianne Larson (Arts and Science), Mellisa Van Dyk (Business Administration), and Ella Goldschmid (Exercise and Wellness); women\u2019s volleyball players Kelsey Clarke (Associate Arts), Morgan Marshall (Sport Performance), and Erika Sheen (Human Resources Management); and men\u2019s golf team member Jarred Callbeck (Business Administration).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Elyse Matthews and Lucas Dellabough came away as co-winners of the President\u2019s Cup award for outstanding achievement in academics and athletics at the recent Camosun Chargers 20th annual athletics awards ceremony.
