New pre-ordering service means less time waiting at bookstore

Web Exclusive Campus

Say goodbye to waiting in long lines while you’re trying to buy your new textbooks. The Camosun College bookstore has announced a new program that will allow students to pre-order texts online then come and pick them up in the store.

Last September, the college ran a pilot program of the pre-ordering service at the Interurban campus. It went well and the service is now available at both campuses.

To pre-order, head over to camosuncollegebookstore.ca and find the “avoid the lines!” feature. You pay an extra $4 for the service, which covers packaging and the always-mysterious “handling,” but that doesn’t seem to be deterring students from using the service.

“We are already seeing a huge increase in the use of the pick-up in-store option and well over half of our orders are being picked up,” Laura-Lea Berna, Camosun manager of ancillary services, said in a statement. “As we get closer to the first day of classes on September 4, we expect this number to climb.”

But don’t doddle: you need to place your order by August 29 (service will resume on September 14, after the back-to-school chaos winds down a bit).

If you don’t want to pay that extra $4, books for fall classes are on the bookstore shelves now.
