Continual ceilings: The cover story in our February 7, 1994 issue was about gender roles in jobs. On our cover we said that society is breaking down gender barriers, pointing to dental hygienists, which was historically male dominated but at the time was becoming more female dominated. 20 years later, what do you think? Are gender barriers still being broken? Has progress been made? Drop us a line and let us know your opinion.

So that’s what goes on in those woods: A photo that, inexplicably, ran with the headline “All good things must come to an end” showed a shack built in the woods on the north side of Camosun’s Lansdowne campus. Apparently, inside the crudely built structure was a collection of empty beer bottles, boxes, and crates. The shack, presumably either a shelter for a homeless person or a low-key party destination, is shown with a construction sign posted on it warning people to keep out.

Next up—canker sores cancelling CamFest: The headline “Staff Infection takes over Mud Bowl” had me hoping for an odd story about an unlikely contagious bout of infection ruining a sporting event, but, alas: Staff Infection was the name of a team of Camosun staff and students playing the annual Mud Bowl flag football tournament.
