Teenage Bottlerocket vs. Human Robots is a split 7” featuring melodic pop-punkers Teenage Bottlerocket and Human Robots, the solo project of Teenage Bottlerocket singer Ray Carlisle’s 13-year-old son Milo.

The Teenage Bottlerocket material is a little disappointing. Only “Olivia Goes to Bolivia” is new; the second track, “Everything to Me,” was on their last album, Stay Rad! It’s a tribute from Ray to his son—it would have been really interesting to see a reworked collaboration between father and son on this song.

Human Robots’ material is not unlike that of his patriarchal benefactor’s band; it demonstrates a more traditional side of the genre with simple throbbing punk riffs and crude solos—some impressive tunes for such a young musician.

Still, one song where both artists worked together would have been a welcome and heartwarming sentiment; this feels like a missed opportunity.
