Camosun volleyball alumna in apprentice program

This fall, Camosun Chargers women’s volleyball alumna Morgan Monkman is participating in her second season in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s Female Apprentice Coach Program. The program, which is funded by Sports Canada, supports female athletes interested in training to be coaches.

Camosun College gets new board member

Lawyer Gregory Atkins is the newest board member of the Camosun College board of governors. Atkins—whose term started on July 31—studied at the University of Alberta and the University of Manitoba. His term on the college’s board is for one year.

New consent-education program available for students

Safer Campuses for Everyone—Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Training for BC Post-Secondary Institutions is a self-paced online consent-education program now available to Camosun students on D2L. BCcampus created the program to help educate students on sexualized violence; the organization is offering students who finish it a certificate of completion and the chance to be entered for a draw for a $250 campus bookstore gift card.

Former Camosun instructor receives equestrian award

Former Camosun Nursing instructor Paula Leweke recently received Equestrian Canada’s best bred Canadian horse award for 2021 for her horse Bella. Bella—who competes under the name Beneficial—was born and bred in Metchosin.
