Government lifts 20-hour work week for international students

To address labour shortages, the Canadian federal government has temporarily lifted the rule that limited international students to working 20 hours off campus a week. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada is also launching a pilot program to automate the process of extending study permits. Look for our full story next issue.

Camosun partners with Philippines college

An international partnership between Camosun College and Miriam College in the Philippines will provide new learning opportunities for students in two stages. The first stage will allow Miriam graduates to study for post-degree diplomas and other programs at Camosun. Secondly, the two institutions will establish an exchange program that will offer students either one or two tuition-free semesters.

New student dojo club on campus

Are you looking to join a new club? If you’re a martial arts lover, a new student dojo club will take place at the PISE Power Dome at Interurban campus on Thursdays from 4:15 to 5:30 pm. The club has three instructors: a faculty member and staff member, both to be announced, and Camosun College president Lane Trotter.

Newly renovated Wilna Thomas and coffee shop opens

The new Wilna Thomas building is now open for classes, and it’s also By the Books coffee shop’s new home. Yes, you no longer need to rely on coffee from the cafeteria and can once again get gourmet lattes, cappuccinos and more from the beloved Camosun coffee shop. Look for our full story soon.
