Camosun Charger finalist for provincial award

Camosun Chargers men’s volleyball alumnus Vitor Pereira is a finalist for an upcoming provincial award. Pereira is in the running for the College Athlete category of the Sport BC Athlete of the Year Award, along with four other students. Pereira already has several awards to his name, such as Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) First Team All Star, PACWEST and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championship Most Valuable Player, Team MVP, and two Athlete of the Week awards. The Sport BC awards will be presented at a ceremony in Vancouver on Thursday, March 9.

Recycling options increase

The provincial government recently announced that many single-use plastic items can now be recycled in BC, filling blue bins instead of garbage cans. The newly accepted recyclable items include party cups, plates, and bowls. Other items, such as soft plastic sandwich bags, can now be taken to recycling depots. The full list of items now accepted for recycling is available at recyclebc.ca/newitems.
