Camosun Innovates expands Virtual Reality Witness Blanket
Camosun Innovates is partnering with Indigenous artist Carey Newman and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to expand access to the Virtual Reality Witness Blanket. The project will create a multi-user virtual-reality environment where participants can experience the work together, encouraging dialogue and shared learning about residential school history. A new narrative designer tool will also allow educators, elders, survivors, and community members to create customized experiences and record personal stories. The enhanced platform aims to support Indigenous storytelling, reconciliation, and education across Canada and internationally.
Bear sighted near Interurban
A bear was seen near Camosun’s Interurban campus on Tuesday, July 28. According to the college, the animal was seen heading toward the neighbouring VI Tech Park at approximately 12:30 pm. Students are reminded to not approach or take pictures of a bear if one is spotted, and to call Protection Services at 250-370-3075.
Camosun honours student achievements with 2026 awards
Camosun College’s School of Business recently recognized students for academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, and perseverance through its 2026 awards. The awards celebrate students across Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Sport Management, and other Business programs. Recipients were recognized for contributions both inside and outside the classroom, including volunteer work, professional development, and community service. The annual awards are supported by donors and organizations that provide financial assistance and recognition to students pursuing business education and careers.
